چکیده

Due to increasing traffic flows, it has become imperative to accurately measure and classify the vehicles passing through a stretch of road. In the UK, the common systems used for the automatic traffic monitoring are based on induction loops, piezoelectric and pneumatic tube counters [1]. These systems are widely implemented due to their accuracy but their maintenance cost is very high. To overcome this problem, radar system can provide an alternative solution. There are various systems discussed and researched in the literature. S.J. Park et al [4] are proposing the use of a side looking stationary radar for the detection and size measurement of vehicles, based on the magnitude and spectrum pattern of the received power. Another technique proposed by H. Roe and G.S Hobson [5], suggests the use of an FMCW microwave system to classify the vehicles using the profiles derived from speed and range data with an accuracy of 75%. An alternative technique is described by M. Jahangir in [2], offering robust Doppler classification based on Hidden Markov Models with an accuracy of 87%. E. Walton demonstrates that an UWB radar system can be used for moving vehicle identification [7].

Airborne Behaviour Monitoring Using Gaussian Processes with Map Information

This paper proposes an airborne behaviour monitoring methodology of ground vehicles based on a statistical learning approach with domain knowledge given by road map information. To monitor and track the moving ground target using UAVs aboard a moving target indicator, an interactive multiple model (IMM) filter is firstly applied. The IMM filter consists of an on-road moving mode using a roadcon...

A Priori Knowledge Based GMTI Algorithm For Traffic Monitoring Applications

In the paper a ground moving target indication and parameter estimation algorithm applicable on singleas well as on multi-channel airborne synthetic aperture radar data is presented. The algorithm is based on a priori knowledge and operates directly on range-compressed data. Only the intersection points of the moving vehicle signals with the a priori known road axes, which are mapped into the r...

Estimation of the Free Space in Front of a Moving Vehicle, Report no. LiTH-ISY-R-2892

There are more and more systems emerging making use of measurements from a forward looking radar and a forward looking camera. It is by now well known how to exploit this data in order to compute estimates of the road geometry, tracking leading vehicles, etc. However, there is valuable information present in the radar concerning stationary targets, that is typically not used. The present work s...

Robust economic-statistical design of the EWMA-R control charts for phase II linear profile monitoring

Control charts are powerful tools to monitor quality characteristics of services or production processes. However, in some processes, the performance of process or product cannot be controlled by monitoring a characteristic; instead, they require to be controlled by a function that usually refers as a profile. This study suggests employing exponentially weighted moving average (EWMA) and range ...
